Tafsir Al-Qur’an dan Realitas Sosial Masyarakat Melayu Analisis Pendekatan Sosiologis

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of Malay tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis) in response to social dynamics and to examine the influence of social context on the construction of Qur’anic interpretations, particularly regarding issues of religious moderation, gender, and ecology. Employing a qualitative approach and library research methodology, the study analyzes Malay exegetical works and various academic writings that address social issues through the lens of the Qur’an. These materials are examined using a descriptive-critical method to explore the relationship between social context and the evolution of interpretation. The results indicate that Malay tafsir has undergone a transformation from interpretations predominantly oriented toward textual meaning to those that are more contextual and responsive to social issues. These findings demonstrate that social context is not merely an external backdrop for interpretation but a key factor shaping the orientation and character of Malay tafsir. Consequently, Malay tafsir can be understood as an intellectual product that continuously transforms alongside societal changes. The study contributes to strengthening the field of contextual exegesis by positioning social dynamics as a crucial element in understanding the process of actualizing the Qur’an’s message within Malay society.
